Wearing and caring for your lenses

Q. Why is contact lens care important?

A. Due to their spongy structure, deposits and absorbed materials can build up on the lens surface. This can result in a reduction in comfort and vision, as well as an increased risk of infection. That's why lenses should be cared for regularly using solutions not only compatible with the lens but also the eye.

Q. Why can't water be used to rinse lenses?

A. Tap water contains chlorine, minerals, metal particles and organisms that can damage both lenses and eyes, and lead to serious infection. Home made saline and purified or distilled water do not disinfect contact lenses and should not be used either.
